PocoNotes Newsletter 2007-1: March 1, 2007

Hello again! I hope that you haven't forgotten about us. You didn't, did you? We certainly haven't forgotten about you! We've only been quiet for the past several months because we've been scheming...and now it's time to tell you what we've been doing!

Yes, it's true...PocoNotes is unbelievably proud and pleased to announce that Hot Tuna Electric has added Scranton to its schedule and, as a result, will be plugging in to "The Electric City" on July 24, 2007 .

Now I KNOW that I don't have to explain this to most of you, but I'll do it anyway because I'm just so excited: Hot Tuna was formed over 35 years ago by Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady, two of the founding members of The Jefferson Airplane ...and friends since childhood. Over the past four decades, Jorma and Jack have recorded dozens of CD's together and separately. They're joined on this electric tour by Barry Mitterhoff on mandolin and Eric Diaz on drums, and it simply could not be more suited to Scranton 's own historic reputation as "The Electric City."

Since I've now hinted at Scranton 's amazing history...twice, I guess I'll mention that in 1887, Scranton was Pennsylvania 's first city with a successful pioneer trolley line and, as a result, became known as “The Electric City.” So, you see, 'The Office' isn't its only claim to fame. Some of the most clever people in the world have known for a long time what a gem is hidden in the Pocono Mountains...just a mere two hours from either New York City or Philadelphia. Hey...if you don't believe me, just ask the New York Yankees whose Triple-A team, the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees , have recently selected this as their new home.

But...back to Hot Tuna Electric! In their entire history, they have never played in Scranton! So, this is a real coup for any of you who:

a) are major Hot Tuna enthusiasts from anywhere in the Northeast United States - never mind Northeastern Pennsylvania !
b) want to experience one of the hottest shows to play in the area in...forever!
c) want to see two Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Famers up close and personal in a setting as lovely and intimate as The Mellow Theater!
d) don't want to kick themselves for eternity for missing this incredible opportunity…or
e) believe us when we promise you that PocoNotes will always put on a great show!

So, for you enthusiasts, tickets are on sale right now...today...this minute at

Hot Tuna
where Fan Club seats are available to you alone before they go on sale to the general public through Ticketmaster on March 15th .

For everyone else, you'll need to plan early, too! From all that we've been told, this very rare electric tour is going to be deluged with publicity not only because of the very magnitude of the history-in-the-making aspect but also because Jorma's new CD "Stars in My Crown" will be released this month. As you may recall, his last one, "Blue Country Heart" was nominated for a Grammy. Let's see if we can help him get a similar "nod" for this one, too!

Now...you don't think that's the WHOLE story, do you? Of course not! So here's the rest of the scoop: touring with Hot Tuna Electric on their summer run is

Oteil and the Peacemakers , a soul, funk and fusion ensemble led by (insert drum roll here) Oteil Burbridge , whose other part-time job is bass player for the The Allman Brothers Band . That's right! The same man that has been described by Derek Trucks as "the Michael Jordan of the bass." Still not convinced? Then just take it on faith and..."give the Peacemakers a chance!"

Still here? Go...to
Hot Tuna for those Fan Club tickets. Just between us...they'll be a "user ID" and a "password" waiting for you.

See you on July 24th ...if not before!
